✨Greeting on the day of ‘Eid with: “May you be well every year” | Explained by Shaykh al-Albānī and Shaykh al-Fawzān
Shaykh al-Albānī—may Allāh have mercy upon him was asked concerning the statement:
(كل عام وأنتم بخير)
May you be well every year or May each year reach you while you are in goodness.
Shaykh al-Albānī:
This addition has no basis and it is sufficient for you (to say) “May Allāh accept your obedience.” As for the statement “May you be well every year” this is a greeting of the disbelievers. It came to us Muslims during our negligence.
[[وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَى تَنْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ]]
[[And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.]]
(Sūrah adh-Dhāriyāt 51:55)

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān:
Your statement—my brother—“May you be well every year” is not befitting because the beginning of the year does not coincide with the holiday on which this greeting is used. This greeting is only something the people have become accustomed to saying but it has no basis.
