Umar bin Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه narrated:
_Indeed the supplication stops between the heavens and the earth. Nothing of it is raised up until you send Salat upon your Prophet (ï·º)."_
[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 486: Ibn Katheer said: Its isnaad is jayyid. It was classed as hasan by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi]

Fadaalah ibn ‘Ubayd narrated:
_Whilst the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) was sitting, a man came in and prayed and said, “O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me.” The Messenger of Allah (ï·º) said, “You have been too hasty, O worshipper. When you have prayed and are sitting, praise Allah as He deserves to be praised, and send blessings upon me, then call upon Him.”_
According to another version (3477):
_“When one of you prays, let him start with praise of Allah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet (ï·º), then let him ask whatever he likes after that.” Then another man prayed after that, and he praised Allah and sent blessings upon the Prophet (ï·º). The Prophet (ï·º) said: “O worshipper, ask and you will be answered.”_
[At-Tirmidhi (3476) Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2765, 2767]
