*THE EVIL OF BIDAH (INNOVATION)*

*Innovation Removes Sunnah*

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur'an:
*قُلۡ هَلۡ نُنَبِّئُكُم بِٱلۡأَخۡسَرِينَ أَعۡمَٰلًا▪️ٱلَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعۡيُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَهُمۡ يَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمۡ يُحۡسِنُونَ صُنۡعًا*
_Say, [O Muhammad], "Shall we [believers] inform you of the *greatest losers* as to [their] deeds? [They are] *those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work*."_
-Surah Al-Kahf, Ayah 103-104

Jabir ibn Abdullah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would praise Allah in his sermon, as He deserves to be praised, and then he would say, _“Whomever Allah guides, no one can lead him astray. Whomever Allah sends astray, no one can guide him. The truest word is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. *The most evil matters are those that are newly invented, for every newly invented matter is an innovation. Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire*.”_

Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
_“Some of my companions will come to me at the fountain in the Hereafter, until I recognize them. They will be taken away from me, then I will say: My companions! It will be said: *You do not know what they innovated after you.*”_

Al-‘Irbad ibn Sariyah reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
_“I have left you upon a clear path, its clarity is the same by night or day. No one deviates from it after me but the he will be ruined.”_
[Sunan Ibn Mājah 44, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]

Abdur Rahmah ibn Yazid reported: Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه said: _“Moderation in the Sunnah is better than striving in innovation.”_
[Al-Mustadrak 289, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]

Ghudayf ibn al-Harith reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
_“People do not contrive an innovation in religion but that it removes a Sunnah like it.”_
