-May Allah have mercy on him-
[Q] There are those that say that taking the statements of the scholars regarding people is considered blindfollowing, so what is the correctness of this statement?
[A] "All praise is to Allah, and may Allah give Salaat and Salaam to our prophet Muhammad and upon his household and companions and those that allegiance to him, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, alone without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger, Amma ba'd:
This is old speech from some of the innovators, San'aani in his book "Irshaadun-Nuqaad ila Tayseeril-Ijtihaad" he mentioned that there are Innovators who say:
You warn from blindfollowing then you blindfollow Yahya bin Ma'een.
If Yahya bin Ma'een says regarding a man trustworthy, you say: trustworthy.
And if Bukhari says: Hadith Sahih, you say: Sahih.
So you are blindfollowings then.
San'aani replied in his great book: "Irshaadun-Nuqaad ila Tayseeril-Ijtihaad" he replied:
This is not from the angle of blindfollowing, it is only from the angle of accepting the information of the Thiqqah (the trustworthy and precise), Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
(يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن جَآءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌۢ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ أَن تُصِيبُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بِجَهَٰلَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَٰدِمِينَ)
"O you who believe! If a Faasiq (rebellious evil person) comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done."
[Hujurat:6]
This verse, in what is understood from it, points towards that if an upright person comes then we accept their information..."
