On the Authority of Abu Dharr The Prophet ﷺ said whilst he passed by a group of Sahaba who were laughing
Prophet ﷺ said:
_By Allah! *If you knew what I know you would laugh a little and you would cry a lot!* You wouldn’t find pleasure in women on your beds, and you would come out to the streets praying fervently to Allah!_
[Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2312]
_
What a Hadith!
A hadith that trembles the soul to the very core.
This isn’t to say someone should live a gloomy life of sadness, rather the Prophet ﷺ used to also smile and be happy.
Rather it is *pulling our heads out of the clouds of heedlessness* and returning the balance to our lives which is found in the statement of the Salaf
_The believer is between fear and hope._
_
This must put fear into our hearts.
Why?
The Prophet ﷺ knew the realities of the Akhirah, how severe and difficult they are from the grave until Qiyamah.
_
How can we not become worried for ourselves, at this description?
_
That the reality of the Akhirah is such that,
A person would cry more than he laughed,
A person would not find pleasure from his spouse,
A person would walk around in the street making fervent Du’a.
_
If this was a normal description you would think a person has gone crazy!
Yet, the reality of Qiyamah and its horrors as Allah ﷻ describes
_On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people as if they are intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe._
[22:2]
_
The day of judgement, if only you knew of its horrors...
_
So what have you prepared for Qiyamah, and your safety in the Akhirah...?
*Reflect*
_
May Allah ﷻ grant us ease and forgive us.
